Standard shipping was a flat charge per order when we checked, which matters more than the tablet price on a single small order.
Why the prices look almost the same at every strength
Cost Plus prices each item from what it pays the manufacturer, plus a fixed markup and a pharmacy fee. That is why a sildenafil tablet costs about the same at the lowest and highest strengths, and why the per-tablet figures barely move between the drugs in the table. Retail pharmacy prices follow list prices instead, and those rise with strength.
- FDA-approved and compounded
- No FDA warning letter found
- No state list published
What the price leaves out
The tablets are only one part of the bill:
- A prescription. Cost Plus is a pharmacy, not a prescriber. Sildenafil, tadalafil, finasteride, oral minoxidil and dutasteride are all prescription drugs.
- Shipping, charged once per order.
- Your time. Refills mean asking your prescriber for a new prescription when the old one runs out.
A program that includes the visit costs more per pill but folds all three into one price. The gap is large. A urologist who studied telehealth ED pricing said of sildenafil: "That was compared with 33 cents from Cost Plus Drug Company." (Urology Times) He also noted that "Cost Plus Drug Company requires no long-term commitment" while most of the telehealth firms he priced did.
How to get a prescription Cost Plus can fill
Three ways, cheapest first for most men:
- Your own doctor. If you already see a primary care clinician, ask for the prescription to be sent to Cost Plus Drugs.
- An online program that sends prescriptions out. Lemonaid says its clinicians can "send it to your local pharmacy same day" (Lemonaid Health), and its ED consult is a one-time fee. Ro says members "can choose to pick up medication at their own pharmacy" (Ro).
- An all-in program instead. If you would rather not manage refills, compare the lowest per-dose prices in our guide to the cheapest ED medication online.
Be careful with retail counters. Strut Health warns that "If you choose to pick up your prescription from your own pharmacy instead, your medication could be 3 to 4 times as expensive." (Strut FAQ) That compares a program's price with a retail pharmacy, not with Cost Plus.
Are these the same drugs the programs sell?
The generic tablets are. Generic sildenafil is approved against the Viagra label, which is "indicated for the treatment of erectile dysfunction" (DailyMed: Viagra label). Generic finasteride is the same drug as Propecia, which "is indicated for the treatment of male pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia) in MEN ONLY" (DailyMed: Propecia label).
Oral minoxidil and dutasteride are approved for other conditions and are prescribed off-label for hair loss. Chews, mints, sprays and combination capsules sold by online programs are compounded, and Cost Plus does not sell those.
Strength and use are your prescriber's decision. The table above is a price list, not a dose guide.
When a program beats Cost Plus
- First prescription, no doctor: the visit is the expensive part. Programs such as Strut Health include it in $16 a month.
- Small or one-off orders: the per-order shipping charge can outweigh the tablet savings.
- Hair loss with a dermatologist: some hair programs include a specialist consult; see our finasteride price page.
Questions
FAQ
What does Cost Plus Drugs charge for sildenafil, tadalafil and finasteride?
Cost Plus Drugs listed sildenafil at $0.22 a tablet, tadalafil 5 mg tablets at $0.20 and finasteride at $0.19 when we checked on October 31, 2026. Each comes in a 30-tablet pack, and shipping is added once per order.
Does Cost Plus Drugs need a prescription for ED pills?
Yes. Sildenafil and tadalafil are prescription drugs, and Cost Plus Drugs fills prescriptions rather than writing them. A primary care doctor or an online program that sends prescriptions to an outside pharmacy, such as Lemonaid or Ro, can provide one.
Is Mark Cuban Cost Plus sildenafil real Viagra?
Cost Plus sells generic sildenafil citrate, the same active drug as Viagra, approved by the FDA as a generic. Branded Viagra from Pfizer is a separate, far more expensive product. Compounded sildenafil chews from online brands are a third category and are not FDA-approved.
Does Cost Plus Drugs sell finasteride for hair loss?
Yes. Generic finasteride tablets, the same drug as Propecia, were $5.83 for 30 tablets when we checked. Online hair loss programs charge more because the visit and delivery are included; our [finasteride cost guide](/guides/finasteride-cost) compares them.
Is Cost Plus Drugs cheaper than Hims or Ro?
Per tablet, yes, by a wide margin: Hims lists generic sildenafil from $4 per use and Ro from $4 a dose. The program price includes the clinician, the prescription and delivery, which Cost Plus does not provide.
Does insurance work at Cost Plus Drugs?
Cost Plus Drugs is built around cash prices, and many plans do not cover ED drugs anyway. Medicare Part D excludes drugs used for ED by law. Our guide on [insurance for ED medication](/guides/ed-medication-insurance) covers the rules. Compare every program's all-in price on our [ED price page](/cost/ed) before you choose.
